Crafty Madam wins on Derby weekend

We had a good night at the Curragh last night where Crafty Madam got up to win the Finlay Volvo Cars Summer Fillies Handicap under Niall McCullagh

“Niall is riding with great confidence. He rides work for us and has always been a very good rider, he’s a classic winning rider. With 8-4 he was always going to ride her. He’s given her some ride”

It was great to get a win for owner/breeder Con Harrington who has been a good supporter. She’s a half-sister to Profitable so she’s a very important filly for the breeding shed going forward.

“We have a little bit to go in the ratings but we’ll try for a bit of black-type along the way. That’s a great pot to win and we’re delighted to win on Derby weekend.

Ice Cold In Alex was an unlucky loser of the Eleanor & Lyndsey Comer Memorial H´cap over 7f when beaten a half a length by Baladiya. Hopefully, he will have his day soon.

On Romanised (4th at Royal Ascot), “He ran a super race. He did everything right and the splits just didn’t come for him. Billy (Lee) was delighted with him.

“He came out of the race well and we’ll probably go back to Deauville for the Jacques Le Marois over the straight course. Goodwood mightn’t just suit him.”

Celtic Beauty put up a very good performance in the Albany at Royal Ascot and is an exciting filly for the season. She will be eligible for all the 6f filly Stakes Races such as the Duchess of Cambridge, The Cheveley Park Stakes, and the Prix Morny in August. She is a smart filly with a lot of pace and will be exciting for owner David Kelly.

Mistress of Venice wins at Tipperary

Mistress of Venice delivered in Tipperary in the BetVictor Bet 5euro Get 30euro Offer Maiden over 5f.

She was one of many horses in the frame in the last furlong but went on to win by half a length under Shane Foley.

She had missed her three-year-old career but previously had good form as a two-year-old being placed in Listed company in May of that year before going on to finish fourth in a Group 2 and Group 3.

With her two-year-old form, it was hugely important to get a winning bracket. This was her third run since returning but ran a nice race following her layoff at Navan finishing 3rd and stepped forward again at Dundalk to finish 2nd.

“It is proper soft ground and she probably isn’t in love with it. It is good to get the win and hopefully, she can go back up into Stakes company now that her confidence is back. We’ll look to find a Stakes race over five or six for her”

Implement wins at Roscommon

Implement got off the mark on his debut on Monday evening in Roscommon in the Murray Ambulance Maiden over 7f to score by half a length under Shane Foley.  He is by Holy Roman Emperor and is owned by Robert Ng. He is a three year old, who raced green in the early stages but will come on from this win. We will try find a conditions race or a handicap in the weeks ahead.

Shane Foley said after the race “He’ll definitely improve from it. I gave him a few thumps when it was there for the winning; usually you wouldn’t be that hard on them first time out but when they are there for the taking you have to take them. He had a bit done without having too much done for his first run” Photo Credit Healy Racing
